After the holiday rush...

Have you ever started a project and just gotten stuck? My family sometimes complains because I usually have more than one project on the go, and the ones that frustrate me are the ones that get ignored, or just accumulate dust in in a closet or drawer.

Every once in a while, I will pull one of these long ignored projects out of the closet and try to have a month of project completions. In the frenzy of the approach to Christmas, I am usually trying to complete Christmas gifts. After Christmas, there is usually the thrill of learning something new, or a big new project to begin. So I just have to force myself to get one thing completed. This year, my husband gave me a weaving loom for Christmas. I put it all together, but once together, I figured I had better get a few other things done first, before I got involved in a new hobby. So, I took 4 days and completed the cabinet I was refinishing. The Icelandic cardigan I started last summer is at the top of the work basket, and now I can take the time to figure out the pattern. Soon, I will begin the design and knitting of a new sweater pattern for Near North. I have had the pattern in mind for months, but have not yet figured out the scale of the design or the wool colours I will need. Then, I will allow myself to begging to dabble in the weaving. I thought getting things done in retirement would be easy. Not so much! What is your next project you would like to finish?

Love, creativity and dedication. That's what goes into handmade.
